EBook readers look more attractive these days because more publishers are releasing books, magazines, newspapers, and other publications in supported digital format. For several years, Amazon’s Kindle and Sony’s Reader has been market’s favorites, but the recent pre-order of Nook — a new eBook reader from Barns & Noble — has proven that a new contender is entering the market; frankly speaking, the new contender looks promising.

The news of Barns & Noble running out of stock after opening pre-order session for their new Nook brings as back to when Amazon released Kindle. Apparently, Barns & Noble just weren’t anticipating so many sales in such a short time. Seeing the product’s specifications, Nook definitely deserves the attention. This new eBook reader implements two screen, one main e-Ink screen with 16-color support and the other is a 3.5-inch LCD touchscreen. Each screen functions differently; the smaller touchscreen is designed to be a control interface for selecting books to read with a nice interface while the big screen displays the content as paper-like as you can imagine.

Nook also has built-in 3G support and Wi-Fi for connectivity. You can easily purchase books and other publications online and download it to your Nook’s 2GB internal storage. There is also a Micro SD slot for storage expansion to up to 16GB. Although Nook don’t have text-to-speech feature, its MP3 player can surely keep you entertained while you are reading; no need to carry both portable media player and an eBook reader, because Nook can do it all.
